Fire Fighter II

The Seacoast EMS Academy Consortium Paramedic Program holds a letter of review from the committee on Accreditation for the EMS professions (CoAEMSP). All students who enter the program and successfully complete the requirements will be allowed to sit for the NREMT ALS Exam. 

This application is for the September 30th Cohort. The cohort will meet every Wednesday 9am-5pm. 

Minimum total course hours: approximately 1100 

In addition to the didactic portion of the program the student will be required to complete a minimum of:

240 hours of in hospital clinical time

240 hours of field time

Successfully complete a final capstone internship to include 20 team leads 15 of which must be at the ALS level. Time varies.

Students are required to attend a weekly 8hr class for a period of 12 months. Sussessfully maintain a course average of 80% for the duration of the program. Complete examinations covering 70 emergency and non-emergency medications. The course includes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), State of New Hampshire Scope of Practice, and Paramedic Interfacility Transfer (PIFT) education.  

In order to be considered for the Seacoast EMS Academy's Paramedic Program, you will be required to complete an application. Completing the application does not guarantee you admittance into the Paramedic Program.

As part of the selection process, you will participate in a written exam, an oral board interview, and multiple patient simulation scenarios to assess your foundational knowledge, communication skills, and clinical reasoning.

You will be contacted prior to the application deadline to schedule your entrance test date. 

This program will prepare the student to make critical decisions in the best interest of the patient and to convey those decisions to both the receiving facility and within their documentation. We are a street-level program that will provide real-world knowledge that enhances the student’s ability to operate in the field from day one. This program will challenge the student in a supportive environment that promotes personal and professional growth.

The Paramedic’s scope of practice includes invasive and pharmacological interventions to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with acute out-of-hospital medical and traumatic emergencies. Emergency care is based on an advanced assessment and the formulation of a field impression. The Paramedic provides care designed to minimize secondary injury and provide comfort to the patient and family while transporting the patient to an appropriate health care facility.

Paramedics face various occupational risks, including exposure to infectious diseases, violence or assault, motor vehicle accidents, and injuries from lifting. Paramedics are subjected to fatigue and stress, mental health issues, and burnout. Please consider this when applying for this program.

Course tuition includes all materials, including the course manual, Jones & Bartlett online access, Platinum Planner skill-tracking software, clinical fees, uniform shirt, and insurance. Applicants that are former FireMed students are eligible for a discount.

EMT Manchester Fall Mon/Wed

CLASS ORIENTATION WILL TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY AUGUST 24TH AT 6PM. YOU MUST ATTEND THE CLASS ORIENTATION.

Prepare to deliver lifesaving prehospital care with FireMed’s EMT program, designed to equip students with critical skills for assessing and treating patients across medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. This course blends foundational EMS principles—roles, anatomy, trauma response, and patient transportation—with dynamic case studies developed collaboratively by instructors and students to simulate real-world challenges.

Prerequisites

Students must be 18+ upon completion of the course. Must hold a valid driver’s license.

Learning Approach

Engage through interactive lectures, hands-on labs, simulated emergencies, and case studies. Mastery is evaluated via skills assessments, written exams, and assignments.

Key Objectives

Describe the roles of EMS in the healthcare system. Demonstrate the professional attributes expected of EMTs.Perform the roles and responsibilities of an EMT with regard to personal safety and wellness, as well as the safety of others. Perform the duties of an EMT with regard to medical-legal and ethical issues, including functioning under medical direction and within the scope of practice. Apply principles of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, lifespan development, and therapeutic communications to the assessment and management of patients. Identify the need for and perform immediate life-saving interventions to manage a patient’s airway, breathing, and circulation. Assess and manage patients of all ages with a variety of complaints, medical conditions, and traumatic injuries. Apply principles of emergency medical services operations, including considerations in ambulance and air medical transportation, multiple casualty incidents, gaining access to and extricating patients, hazardous materials incidents, and responding to situations involving weapons of mass destruction.

Completion Requirements

Maintain an 80% course average, pass the final exam (≥80%), and demonstrate all required skills. 

Attendance Policy

Student attendance is required at all scheduled classes, including lab sessions. Students may be dropped from the course for excessive absences of any kind. Excused absences may be granted by the course instructor for extenuating circumstances. If three or more absences occur for any reason, the status of the student will be reviewed by the instructors to determine a disposition. Course failure is likely under these circumstances. If a student misses any class, he/she is responsible for any missed examinations, lab work, and material covered in that class session. Prompt arrival is expected at all class activities. It is the student’s responsibility to sign in on the attendance roster.
